Carabao Group PCL (CBG) along with Matichon PCL have launched the 'Passing on Knowledge to Thai Society' project to promote reading in secondary school pupils. This project sees the leading energy producer and major publishing house donate books worth one million baht to 100 schools in Thailand. Mr.Kamoldist Smuthkochorn, CBG Deputy Managing Director (Production) and Matichon Managing Director Parnbua Boonparn presented the books to three representative schools at a ceremony. Receiving the books were Nuttaphong Ngernnak of Wat Sai Ma Community School, Rungnapha Wiwasuk of Silajarnpipat School and Thananan Chomudom of Sridarun School.
The books presented by CBG and Matichon go to schools lacking educational equipment and some are in remote areas. Among them are Bang Pakong Borworn Witthaya School, Samakkhi Ratsadon Bamrung School in Chachoengsao Province, Pa Sang School in Lamphun Province, Baan Non Khueng Jong Charoen School in Ubon Ratchathani Province, Baan Ru Samilae School in Pattani Province, Baan Sri Thanam School in Yala Province, Baan Mae Salid School in Tak Province, Nong Wua So Phitthayakhom School in Udon Thani Province, and Baan Wang Burapha School in Sa Kaeo Province.
The book donation to schools marks the second year in a row as CBG aims to give back to society through the passage of knowledge and creation of opportunities for needy pupils. These schools have received 5,100 books of various titles chosen by a selection committee including best-selling or award-winning books. Matichon has delivered these books to all schools in the programme.
CBG has placed great importance on activities promoting social responsibility as part of the founders' mission. Since its inception, CBG has raised societal care through various projects in cooperation with partners in the public and private sectors to ensure that assistance thoroughly reaches people in need.
